Liliana Gonin, goldsmith
I trained at the École de Bijouterie de Lyon, class of 2008, and opened this atelier the following year with a single bench, a foot-pedal flex-shaft, and the conviction that a piece of jewelry ought to be made — not procured. Fifteen years later, the practice has not grown into a brand so much as it has stayed close to its first materials: brass, silver, semi-precious stones, and the steady attention of four pairs of hands.
The studio produces no more than forty units of any given design per year. Every piece is drawn on paper, cut at the bench, finished by hand, and signed before it leaves the workroom. What you wear, when you wear one of our pieces, is not a trend cycle — it is a specific object made by a specific person, on a specific morning, in a specific room in Lyon.
I have kept the practice small on purpose. I would rather answer your email myself than hand it to a customer service department.

A body of work, in chronological order
The studio has been exhibited four times at the Lyon Maison des Canuts and selected for the 2022 Bijorhca Paris Créateur program. Each exhibition marks a turn in the practice — a new material, a quieter line, a return to the brass that began it.

Maison des Canuts — Lyon I
Lyon Maison des Canuts, France
The first solo show. Twelve pieces in brass and raw silver, all drawn from the same notebook of silhouettes: oval, arc, closed ring. The room sold out on the closing Sunday.

Maison des Canuts — Lyon II

A quieter exhibition. Twenty pieces introducing the studio's first work with smoky quartz and green tourmaline. The room was hung with linen, not painted walls.

Maison des Canuts — Closed Forms

A small, deliberately reduced exhibition of sixteen pieces — each one a closed silhouette with no clasp, no beginning, no end. The catalog is now out of print.

Selected by the Bijorhca curatorial panel as part of the 2022 Créateur cohort — twenty independent European jewelry houses invited to show to a trade and press audience. Featured in Vogue Italia the following spring.

The most recent solo exhibition. A return to brass after three years working almost exclusively in silver, accompanied by a small catalog essay on the studio's first fifteen years.

Four hands, one bench
The studio is four people. The piece you order will be drawn, cut, finished, polished, packed, and signed by one of the names below — never by an outsourced workshop, never by a third-party polisher.
02 — Goldsmith
Mathéo Vasseur
Senior goldsmith, with the studio since 2014. Handles the heavier silver work, all soldering, and the final hand-polish on every piece.
03 — Goldsmith
Inès Berthier
Goldsmith & stone-setter, joined the atelier in 2019. Specialises in stone-setting and the finer brass work; signs alongside Liliana on each edition.
04 — Bespoke
Camille Roux
Bespoke commissioner, joined 2021. Your single point of contact for a custom piece — from the first sketch to the final fitting, including private bridal commissions.
